IForgottenHopeI ::: Favorites 2007-11-18 22:18:15 One on One, British and German(KGL) were superiour to French Cavalry. HOWEVER as for skill in maneuver and discipline, the British cavalry was so inferior to the French that whatever physical advantage (excellent horses and much longer training) they enjoyed was canceled out. __________________________________________________
Den365 ::: Favorites 2007-11-17 08:10:58 See my contributions to "Battle of Waterloo 2007", where I explain myself better. __________________________________________________
IForgottenHopeI ::: Favorites 2007-11-16 21:21:00 Britain's war effort against France was always hampered by a shortage of cavalry. Pound for pound it was the equal of any, but its lack of numbers was compounded by poor leadership and indiscipline that wasted not only good opportunities, but lives. __________________________________________________
mart3442 ::: Favorites 2007-10-26 06:00:29 It depends if you actually recognise the British isles....I dont but thats beside the point. Wellesley was born in Dublin, Eire. __________________________________________________
Delogros ::: Favorites 2007-10-26 03:11:40 Not being good at geography for the era, wasn't Ireland considered part of the British isles? If not then fair point to you :) __________________________________________________
mart3442 ::: Favorites 2007-10-25 21:20:25 The commander on the day was Irish. All things aside it was, without doubt an allied victory. __________________________________________________
Delogros ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 19:13:50 Agree with Den365 about the Cavalry and Artillary (though at Waterloo the union Brigade was wasted and was never given the chance) If you do it on pure weight of men on the field, it can be considered a German victory however the Commander for the day was British... Or you could take it for what it was, An allied victory. Every country lost men it's unfair to give the glory to just the one that probably lost the most... (WW2 isn't purely a Russian victory after all...) Just my opinion __________________________________________________
Den365 ::: Favorites 2007-09-18 08:24:13 British Cavalry and Artillery was inferior to the French (even French of 1815), British Infantry was perfectly trained and someway excellent, but out of 70.000 Wellington's troops, 20.000 were British (mostly Irish, even the English Regiments), the other King's German Legion, Hanoverians, Brunswickers, Nassaures, Dutch, Belgian -not counting the 40.000 Prussians arriving -GERMAN VICTORY NO DOUBT ON EARTH __________________________________________________
icy300 ::: Favorites 2007-06-30 18:17:34 no. wellington and the prussians won the battle of waterloo and the british named a train station after it...really __________________________________________________
GeoffreyfromParis ::: Favorites 2007-06-04 13:03:20 What balance! 60 000 french soldiers tired by the cold of Russia against 120 000 soldiers. I know Napoleon won with 1 against 20. It was the greatest conqueror of Europe and permitted its unification ans expansion of democracy Watch this: youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=jlHStv9NTCk __________________________________________________
kirkoa ::: Favorites 2007-05-01 01:16:47 this intro is a montage of the movie Waterloo. Great movie, and this is a great game. __________________________________________________
rtwfreak ::: Favorites 2007-04-30 16:33:35 Yeah, the bad quality is because the game is from, what? 1995 or 1996? I had so much fun playing it. __________________________________________________
