Description:

UPDATED LYRICS! I wrote this song because the world has been shaped by those who use violence and hatred to meet their own ends. Our children are only exposed to these people's perceptions of the world, often being brainwashed into believing that this is how the world should be, not just how it happens to be at this time. This is one of my most controversial songs to date. This one was highly influenced by Donovan Leitch, as well as by Bob Dylan. What is the noise? I did not record that... anyway... LYRICS: There is no victory for those who are dying, No wars can embrace the love I've seen, I stare at your face with my blistered eyes, And heave you back where you're unseen, See the dead people flow in our rivers, That we use to cleanse our blood-stained hands, The soils of hatered turn dry in the summers, As roots of bombs spread over the lands All your fears will drive us farther away, We can't play with our old friends anymore, But I can hear a distant voice that whispers, That this is not our children's war Our fathers tore down the bridges to dreams, And the sons and daughters must rebuild them, If it is not to them whom we owe this world, Then it will belong to those who condemn them, We hand them their guns as they go out to play, And we teach them the fun and laughs of killing, Packing them on trains to fight for these wars, But it's our own blood they will be spilling All your fears will drive us farther away, We can't play with our old friends anymore, But I can hear a distant voice that whispers, That this is not our children's war Sound the war-drums of a tin soldier dancing, Only to fall at the hands of false wisdoms, Our children will know the feeling of death, As they die bleeding where peace never comes, Look into the graves you teach all our children, But not to the trees and the rivers and stars, They learn from our hatred or our compassion, Handing them weapons to make them who we are All your fears will drive us farther away, We can't play with our old friends anymore, But I can hear a distant voice that whispers, That this is not our children's war

luckily for you, I live in Britain so that isn't your problem. while you are undoubtedly a person who has the best interests of humanity at heart, we clearly don't agree on many things. I don't dispute the nature of Sadam Hussein's regime absolutely, but that isn't the only issue here by a long chalk. I don't wanna go upsetting people putting themselves on the line like you are, for what you believe is a good cause so I'm not going to pursue an agressive argument here with you.

Anybody with half a brain can read their dogma and their published views and see what they will do. Do you think that after we retreat from the freedom we have enabled in iraq that they will happily stay in the Middle East? What exactly ould make you say such a ridiculously outrageously stupid thing? Are you an Al Qaida disinformation agent?

Thanks, Mr Politicianman. 70 votes in the Senate authorized the use of force. Oct 31, 1998 was when Bil Clinton signed into law the "Iraq Liberation Act," which made it US policy to change the regime there. Saddam was the worst mass-murderer in the history of the Middle East.

OK, I would never fight a war without primary consideration to the future, and to my children. Indeed, this is my children's war - and anybody who says differently has a fundamentally different understanding of humanity from me. The liberty and future of Iraqi childrne is inextricably intertwined with that of my own - and yours. If we abandon freedom to millions of Iraqis - not only is ours in peril - but we don't deserve to be free, is my fixed opinion. What is our wealth FOR?

Your mindless attacks on this Soldier betray your agenda. You doubt what this man is saying? How about this - only a fool would do so - it is obvious to the most casual observer. is that clear enough for you? Take it from somebody who has been watching this sort of thing, and is watching it, for 26 years now - and not only watching. Cheers from Baghdad.

Why don't you stand up to the reasonable commitment we have made to assist in the maintenance of liberty in Iraq? you have sacrificed nothing, Ranger and those like him have paid all the real cost. It is not about violence, but opposing violence in the only way which is effective. And please don't pretend that we have NOT built over 5000 schools and hospitals and enabled women's votes etc., in these operations - because we HAVE.

Education is obviously wasted on those who do not see the liberty of Iraqis as intertwined with that of their own children. What a crime that I am compelled to fund the liberal indoctrination of intolerant self-centered fatheads like yourselves, and still must fund the education of my own children out of my own pocket.

"US will be even more probable of having countless terror attacks on its soil. That's a gaurunteed fact." wow...i guess education isn't a priority in the neo-conservative sinkholes of the US. Good song mate, actually enjoyed it a lot despite the obvious roughness round the edges.

"Wow, they have infiltrated YouTube, apparently." Are you assuming Ranger is part of Al Qaeda?

ranger, you clearly want what is best for this country. but...when you say all those bad words with such strong emotion, it makes you look bad. why dont you put your gun down and feed someone in need, teach a child how to read, volunteer in darfur or do something to make the world a better place. we dont believe you, and your side is making this country fall faster than the terrorists ever could. you should really be more patriotic.

A "guaranteed fact" eh? Are you actually an Al Qaeda operative who know that these attacks are coming? Wow, they have infiltrated YouTube, apparently.

I am not that surprised that some are active in bashing this song and lowering its rating. I am not a Democrat and I disagree with both Clinton and Bush on many issues. This is a song against those who teach our children to kill each other based on personal beliefs, not for the common good. WWII was a very just war, and war should be used as a last resort if the world is in peril. Will we learn lessons from the past or continue to repeat mistakes?
