soylentgreenb ::: Favorites Before we started using oil there was about 500 million of us and growing very slowly. Since then we've exploded to 6.5 billion and we couldn't have done it without oil. We're now quickly approaching peak oil, with serious estimates ranging anywhere between years to a couple of decades. If we do not make that transition gracefully to other fuels we will have a population significantly above the carrying capacity of the Earth.
