Description:

http://www.ted.com TEDster Allison Hunt's five-minute talk finds humor and marketing strategy in the most unlikely of places -- her own hip-replacement surgery. As the world scrutinizes broken healthcare systems, this particularly timely clip shows how sneaking to the front of a 2-year waiting list can have an altruistic effect.

"but with tax cfredits, they recieve more than they put in" That would mean the government is manufaturing wealth and handing it out. That is just stupid. The government is an expense, not a producer.

not really Cropperb, Canadians pay 50% payroll and higher sales tax and higher manufacturing costs resulting in goods costing more. Most people in U.S., not only get ALL of their taxes back, but with tax cfredits, they recieve more than they put in. Verses an 80/20 plan that costs a family of 4, 400 a month, your statement is fallacious.

"US citizens spend more than citizens of other countries on healthcare. " Not only healthcare, but everything else, too. Americans are rich : D (Its because of our freedom.)

True. US citizens spend more than citizens of other countries on healthcare. Indeed they have to pay three times: first arm and leg to get insured, then another arm and leg once they get sick. Plus the intangibles: the anxiety, the time investment and the paperwork.

Free nation is the nation in which citizens do not have to fear bancraptcy when they get sick on top of getting sick.

You are mistaken. She has mentioned "free" medical care about five times. That's clearly the most disgusting and revolting aspect of the universal, single-provider health care for insurance companies PR flacks.

Socialized medicine has helped no one. No one at all. Everyone would be better of in a free nation. Socialized medicine is a travesty.

Well one would hope she isn't self-centred enough to denounce a system that treats everyone without forcing them into bankruptcy because of her personal pain and inconvenience. One would hope she realizes that the system that has caused her some suffering has alleviated it for thousands of others. One would hope.
