reditreefrog ::: Favorites Oat, the reason you may seem to see Pearl drums used everywhere is due to their cheap price. Pearl does make a better quality line for a lot more money "Reference series" I wanted a double bass set and chose the export for the cheap price; I should have known better from my experience of owning other sets; you get what you pay for. My cymbals alone cost twice the amount of this drum set and I also use two DW9000 drum pedals valued at almost the cost of the drums. 07-10-22 12:54:59 __________________________________________________
reditreefrog ::: Favorites In the 30+ years of playing drums I've owned Sonor, Yamaha, Ludwig, and now unfortunately a Pearl export set. The best sets I ever owned were Ludwig hands down; I owned a vista-lite smoked colored set and also a maple wood set by Ludwig and yes materials make a huge difference in the sound of the drums. Poplar wood is cheap substitute and has a horrible renaissance. This is from my own experience of playing different sets. 07-10-22 12:37:38 __________________________________________________
reditreefrog ::: Favorites I bought a new Pearl 8 piece export series for $1200. The drums are heat sealed poplar wood. The chrome colored coverings on all the drums aren't glued to each drum only sealed at the seems; when you touch the drums the coverings move. I've changed all the drum heads to aquarium 2 and this improved sound but the tension tuners seem to loosen up on their own. All said this set sucks and was a waste of money. reditreefrog ::: Favorites Eric can make this cheap quality poplar Pearl drums and very cheap Pearl cymbals sound decent. I own a Pearl export set and this DVD was enclosed.
