wjs7652 ::: Favorites You should really study tithing before you try to teach others. You are using the same scripture (mostly OT)that everyone else uses to try to justify tithing. If you would really seek God on the subject I believe He will show you the truth. You are just repeating what others have told you. The tithe is not the first 10% of your income. mappylad ::: Favorites The question actually is "What is giving for?" Tithes were for widows, orphans, aliens and Levites in OT. NT giving was similar. If your church does not give 100% to destitute then it "robs God" Malachi 3:8. Any tithe used for anything else is not what giving is for. Acts 2:45 states that the disciples sold their possessions and "gave to anyone as he had need". Each person gave to the destitute! Where did Jacob give his tithe? ChristianIM ::: Favorites No where does it say that their is a need for a weekly event. The weekly religious occasion in the Old Testament was the Sabbath, a Day of Rest. Compare that to a day of Religious/Spiritual Activity. And there's nothing in the Bible about going through a series of spiritual activities like the local Christian organizations we call "churches today" take people through.
