Description: My response to the question of tithing. In Hebrew the word tithe means tenth. So giving a tenth to the Lord, is it required? |

thrufaithalone ::: Favorites "Not a few poor Christians have been thrown headlong into further poverty because they have been told that if they do not tithe, they are robbing God...When tithing is taught as God's command, Christians who can barely make ends meet are guilted into deeper poverty." - Frank Viola 07-09-16 20:24:20 __________________________________________________
thrufaithalone ::: Favorites Another fill-in-the-blank test: "He that has pity upon the ____ lends unto the Lord." 07-09-16 20:08:17 __________________________________________________
wjs7652 ::: Favorites You should really read most of the comments on here. See how many people know the truth about tithing. are you humble enough to admit you may be wrong? These people are trying to show you the truth. Now you need to get into your bible and start studying it for yourself. 07-09-14 22:47:23 __________________________________________________
wjs7652 ::: Favorites You should really study tithing before you try to teach others. You are using the same scripture (mostly OT)that everyone else uses to try to justify tithing. If you would really seek God on the subject I believe He will show you the truth. You are just repeating what others have told you. The tithe is not the first 10% of your income. God never required anyone to tithe money. Study it for yourself and stop listening to man. 07-09-14 22:43:47 __________________________________________________
mappylad ::: Favorites The question actually is "What is giving for?" Tithes were for widows, orphans, aliens and Levites in OT. NT giving was similar. If your church does not give 100% to destitute then it "robs God" Malachi 3:8. Any tithe used for anything else is not what giving is for. Acts 2:45 states that the disciples sold their possessions and "gave to anyone as he had need". Each person gave to the destitute! Paul in 2 Corinthians 9:12 says that giving to poor causes men to praise God. 07-09-11 10:37:43 __________________________________________________
thrufaithalone ::: Favorites Abraham tithed once, when returning from a war, of other people's goods and gave the rest back to the original owners. He gave nothing that was his own. Where did Jacob give his tithe? (There was no temple) The verse from 1Samuel was in referrence to what would happen to the Israelites when they rejected Him and wanted a king they could see. 07-09-01 23:05:08 __________________________________________________
thrufaithalone ::: Favorites Go, sell everything you have and give it to the _______, and you will have treasure in heaven. 07-08-28 01:57:47 __________________________________________________
ChristianIM ::: Favorites Nor is Worship essentially singing songs, let alone singing them in a large group. Worship is a way of life... present your body as a "living sacrifice"... all that. The distortion of Scripture by the "Traditions of Men" is really astounding. 07-08-11 13:55:53 __________________________________________________
ChristianIM ::: Favorites No where does it say that their is a need for a weekly event. The weekly religious occasion in the Old Testament was the Sabbath, a Day of Rest. Compare that to a day of Religious/Spiritual Activity. And there's nothing in the Bible about going through a series of spiritual activities like the local Christian organizations we call "churches today" take people through. So that's neither the Sabbath nor is it "doing things BY THE BOOK." 07-08-11 13:55:23 __________________________________________________
ChristianIM ::: Favorites Church is when Christ and his people come together. Period. Any size, even 2 or 3 "in his name" (his nature, character, spirit) will do. Live generously as a way of life, and take the journey of life with other believers seeking after his Heart. It's all there in the Word. 07-08-11 13:54:53 __________________________________________________ |
